O Christmas Tree
December 2, 2009
O Christmas tree, How lovely are your branches!
We took our annual trip to Elgin to visit the Christmas tree farm. We took along my brother, his wife and mother in law whom all live in Bastrop and my parents who were visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday. I love this place. I love Christmas. I love Christmas trees, and chickens and farm animals, and Santa and well, you get the picture.
It has been our Texas family tradition to go and pick out our tree but I must admit I was suffering a wee bit with a toothache. I had to have a root canal on Monday, OWEEE baby! My heart was in the tree picking and family festivities but my mouth was aching something fierce. Luckily for me the animals, fresh air and family were a great distraction….
If y’all haven’t been here, you really must. They have a cute farm and the trees are organically farmed and are very reasonable.
Check out the animals
These two were the wild and zesty ones, the others were quite tame.
Here Chicky Chicky chic
I just love the feathers on the feet – too cute.
Some barn animals hanging out.
The sacrificial lamb.
Izzy also came along. Wait a minute this is Sweetie Pie the pig.
Goober the Horse and the Biting donkey with
some goats, a chicken and other “stuff”.
Izzy’s first ride in a hay wagon, on our way out to the trees.
Me and my “bro”
and my other friend, Larry the Llama. “Hi Larry” just passing through dude.
The Elgin Christmas Tree farm grows Virginia Pine, Loblolly Pine, and Leyland Cypress. They also sell Fraser Fir that are shipped in from North Carolina.
A field of Leyland Cypress trees. We usually go for the Virginia pine. But this year we went for something different
like us. The whole dang Clark Clan in front of the chosen one. B-man sporting the bow saw – what a stud!
The dudes and our Christmas tree, a native Loblolly Pine. Get to work dudes and cut down that tree.
It’s so much fun to cut down your own tree. B-man shows his grinch grin and his tree cutting skills. C$ getting in on the action.
Izzy even had fun!
Christmas is serious business.
Until next year
bye Elgin Christmas Tree farm!
Hello purdy tree. All dressed up.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
What happiness befalls me
When oft at joyous Christmastime
Your form inspires my song and rhyme
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, What happiness befalls me.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
